Rosacea
Rosacea is a chronic skin condition that occurs most often between the ages of 30-60 and can worsen with age. It usually affects the nose, cheeks, chin and forehead. Patients present in various ways. One is redness and the appearance of blood vessels on the skin that can blush easily with certain triggers. Second is raised red bumps or pustules that look similiar to acne. Some people progress to a swollen bumpy rounded nose with thickened skin. Treatment involves a good skin care routine designed not to aggravate the rosacea, some topical prescription medications, oral antibiotics and laser treatments. It is important to remember this is a chronic condition and needs regular treatments long term.
